The Salvation Army Toronto Grace Health Centre (TGHC) Chiropody Clinic has been serving residents of downtown Toronto for over 25 years.  The TGHC clinic specializes in geriatrics, biomechanics, and diabetic foot care.

Podiatrists examine, treat and prevent foot disorders, as well as communicate a diagnosis that identifies a disease or disorder of the foot, and may also perform bone surgery. There are approximately 60 podiatrists currently practicing in Ontario. A doctor’s referral is not required.  Podiatric medicine is not included in the Canada Health Act; OHIP covers between $7-16 of each visit to a registered podiatrist up to $135 per patient per year, plus $30 for x-rays. You will need to pay for the remainder of the cost of each visit. Surgeries performed by podiatrists are not covered by OHIP.

Note: extended health plans (private medical insurance) often provide coverage for podiatric services — check with the individual insurance company plan.
